MercedesMercedes is an International Performer. Her Poetry and Music have taken her to Cameroon in West Africa, Jamaica, Cancun, and Canada. Early this year in March 2005 she won the Pierce College Poetry Slam, in Tacoma , and got rave reviews for her Tribute Show to the late great Nina Simone.
Mercedes enjoys traveling, writing and singing. She has performed for the City of Seattle, Tacoma Art Museum, International Hot Shop, SAM, City of Bellevue, and many of the fine Jazz Venues around the sound!
Last year, Mercedes received a Program Innovation Award from the YMCA for bringing art, music and education together for young adults to inspire them to reach their goals. She is a Community Activist and a member of NCBI National Coalition Building Institute that educates people about racism, and oppression.
Mercedes published her first book of Poetry “ Sacred Psalms of Touch” in 2003, and her first CD of Poetry mixed with Jazz in 2004 entitled: A Touch Worth Remembering”
